Will my auto or home owners policy cover me in the event of an accident or damage?

Most personal insurance companies exclude coverage for a rented jet ski/boat. This includes most homeowners policies, personal auto policies, etc.

 

Average cost of repairs

The cost of repairs vary greatly depending on the damage incurred.  However fiberglass and boat repair on avergae is extremely expensive some what comparable to auto body repair.  Our fibergalss repair shop has a minum of $300 on any repair work.  Accidents do happen and damaging a propeller, lower unit, drive shaft, or fiberglass happens to even experienced boat operators.  Below is a list of common repair costs

Propeller  $140 - $750

Damaged Lower Unit   $1000 - $1800

V-Drive Shaft Replacement  $1500 - $3500

Fiberglass Repair  $150 - $3500

Jet Ski Hood Replacement  $500

Do I really need insurance?

This program not only buys our customers a lot of "leaniency", with those little scuffs and scratches, it also reduces the liability exposure for 95% of other issues our customers face.   Most of your customers return our rental equipment in great shape, but accidents do happen.  So we have developed this program at the request of our customers to offer you peace of mind during your fun day on the lake.

Although you may take the best care of the equipment, sometimes the damage may not be caused by you! For instance, lets say that you have your rental boat docked at a marina to eat lunch. While you are inside an inexperienced boater arrives and bumps into the jet ski or boat. They damage a section of the fiberglass hull, and before you can find out who they are, they take off through the lake. 

Here are some of the other scenario's that can happen to even the customer with the best intensions.  Docking the craft and waves cause fiberglass damage, storms, operating the craft to close together, docking next to pontoon boats, or an inexpericed friend or family member bumps into a dock or gets to close to shore.
