Meet the Staff
LANCE MARKHAM – President/CEO
As Young Harris Water Sports’ President and Chief Executive Officer, Lance is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day-operations of the company, as well as controlling all aspects of the company’s overall direction and strategy. He started Y.H.W.S in 2002 while simultaneously acting as Sports Medicine Director and Head Athletic Trainer at Young Harris College. In 2009 Lance took Young Harris Water Sports on full time and it has grown tremendously. It is his dedication to quality and customer service that has made YHWS the number one boat rental company in Georgia.
Lance holds a Bachelor’s degree in Science from Eastern Washington and a Master’s degree in Science from Marshall University.
DUSTIN BURCH – Vice President
As Young Harris Water Sports’ Vice President and Director of Operations, Dustin is responsible for assisting in overseeing all day-to-day-operations of the company, as well as facilitating the company’s delivery operation and on-site watercraft rental locations.
Dustin joined Y.H.W.S in 2009 and has since assisted in growing the company into an emerging industry leader in the Southeast. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from the University of Georgia. As always, Go Dawgs!
JACOB BENOFF – Regional Director : Lake Oconee
Jacob is now in his third year on the Y.H.W.S management team. He has spent over 14 years in the hospitality industry holding positions at IHG (Biggest Hotel Company in the World by number of rooms) of Global Pricing Strategy Manager, Global Revenue Management Training Consultant, Regional Revenue Manager, and New Hotel Opening Specialist (IHG).
Jacob is responsible for managing and overseeing all operations and company developement for our southern locations including: the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee, the Boat House Marina at Harbor Club, the 44 Bridge Location as well as the Plantation Marina Reynolds, Lake Oconee.
JARON MULLINS – Operations Manager : Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee Location
Jaron has spent over 8 years managing all day-to-day operations of youth sports programs through the YMCA in Savannah and Georgia’s Piedmont Branches. This includes 2 years’ experience as a Sports Director managing 1500 youth and 100 volunteers over the course of a year. Day-to-day operations include: creating rosters, scheduling and providing excellent customer service.
Jaron is responsible for managing and overseeing all operations at the Ritz-Carlton Reynolds, Lake Oconee location by maintaining customer relationships, responding to inquiries, obtaining reservations both over the phone as well as online using our web-based reservation system and acting as a liaison between the Lodge and the rental customers to provide the highest level of customer service possible.
DEBORAH RUSSELL – Office Administrator : YHWS Dealership, Young Harris, Ga
As Young Harris Water Sports’ Office Administrator, Deborah is responsible for activities including but not limited to office administration, accounts payable and accounts receivable, human resources, marketing, customer service and the day-to-day activities of the Dealership.
RANDY GLEAVES – Controller : YHWS Dealership, Young Harris, Ga
As Young Harris Water Sports’ Controller, Randy is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk, budget and forecasts preparation as well as enhance the accuracy of the company’s reported financial results.
Randy has over 25 years of experience as a Controller and Senior Financial Analyst. He worked as a Senior Financial Manager for companies such as Coca-Cola, General Electric, NCR, Access Business Services, and most recently with Fiserv. Randy has a B.S. and M.B.A from the University of Tennessee. He lived in Knoxville, TN for 35 years and another 25 years in Atlanta, GA. Randy is now living in Haysville, NC with his wife, Kirsten, and their dog, Lucy. Water sports have been a favorite of his ever since he was thrown into the community pool at the age of three.
