Lake Oconee

Lake Oconee was formed by Georgia Power in 1979. The lake features 374 miles of shoreline. Along the shores, Georgia Power has developed three 85-acre parks. These parks have beaches, day-use areas, and camping facilities. The company also has provided three public boat ramps. Camping facilities boast campsites with water and electrical hookups, picnic table & grill, comfort stations with hot showers, washers/dryers, soft drink machines, ice and pay telephones, R/V dump stations, camper & boat storage, trails to beach and gatehouse, boat docks for campers' use only, and playground equipment. Beach and picnic areas boast white sand beaches with marked swimming areas, beach houses with restrooms, dressing rooms and soft drink machines, pavilions with barbecue pits, picnic tables and nearby restrooms, picnic tables and grills and playgrounds.
